Bio and Information

I’ve been a resident of Vermont for over 12 years. I hold a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University New England. In addition, I am a certified Ayurvedic Consultant and certified Yoga Teacher.

As a mental health counselor, I take an eclectic therapeutic approach, which integrates a systemic, developmental, strength-based, and relational perspective. My experience includes working with families, adolescents, young adults, and adults on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship concerns, sexual and physical abuse, eating disorders, and stress management. I am passionate about the value of mindfulness in my daily life, and have experience co-facilitating groups using mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to address depression. I believe that main role, as a therapist, is to create a safe place to creatively explore and support my clients’ needs.

My work is grounded in the belief that people are able to make changes when they feel supported, safe, and heard. In my counseling practice, I offer the additional option to work with mental health concerns by incorporating the use of Ayurveda, a holistic medical system. The premise of Ayurveda is that optimum health includes considering the whole person: the body, mind, and spirit. In this way, I practice alternative mental health counseling, which compliments traditional talk therapy by also offering Ayurvedic lifestyle, daily routine, and diet recommendations.

I am a graduate of The Ayurvedic Institute, where I had the opportunity to study for two years with Dr. Vasant Lad, a world-renowned Ayurvedic physician. In 2003, I completed an Ayurvedic apprenticeship, which provided specialized clinical training in Ayurvedic cooking, herbal remedies, and lifestyle management.

As an Ayurvedic consultant, I have been successful in working with clients in addressing a variety of physical and mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, fear, digestive disorders, hypertension, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, hormonal imbalances, and chronic pain.  My continued curiosity and passion for combining mental health counseling with Ayurveda revolves around the ways these two paradigms compliment each other by providing tools for helping clients achieve and maintain a greater sense of balance.
