Bio and Information
As a psychotherapist at the Vermont Center for Yoga and Therapy in South Burlington VT, I specialize in working with adults and adolescents who may be experiencing a variety of issues including but not limited to: the residual effects of chronic abuse, neglect or trauma; grief and loss; anxiety as well as depression. I have had experience working with people from many different cultures and in varying levels of crisis. I primarily focus on using humanistic, psychodynamic, and systemic modalities in an integrative manner based on the needs of each individual, with the belief that the mind, body and spirit can all be used as resources in the healing process.
I am dedicated to creating a safe, warm and collaborative therapeutic relationship where each client can discover their own voice and uncover their own strengths and resources in order to make positive changes in their lives. It may be helpful to look into the past and the way in which one has developed in order to move forward, or to focus on what is currently happening systemically, without blame, to improve one’s situation. It is my goal to work with a sense of compassion and curiosity, acknowledging the beauty and worthiness in every being.
Some results from our work together may be: increased empowerment in daily life, improved coping skills, better relationships and communication skills, increased ability to handle overwhelming emotions or to awaken from a feeling of numbness, becoming closer to attaining life goals, or a heightened awareness of meaning and purpose.
I understand that the therapeutic process may be painful at times yet it also has the power to be highly rewarding and enriching. I would consider it a privilege and an honor to assist you in your journey.
